The heritage tour starts from Mumbai transferring to Chennai exploring the beaches of Pondicherry, beautiful temples at Thanjavur, Madurai, Periyar wildlife sanctuary, houseboat ride on the backwaters and the alluring sunset’s scenes from the beaches of Kovalam and Kanyakumari.

Itinerary

Day 01: Chennai

Day 02: Chennai – Mamallapuram

_0087_mamallapuramfiverathasPost Breakfast,  sightseeing tour for Chennai and visit Fort St. George, Govt. Museum, Art Gallery, Valluvar Kottam, Snake Park, Kapaleeswarar Temple, Santhome Cathedral, and the Marina Beach. Evening to enjoy at the busy bazaars of Chennai. Proceed to Mamallapuram and overnight stay

 

 

Day 03: Mamallapuram

_0091_mamallapuramExplore Arjuna penance, Sri Krishna butter ball, cave temples, five Rathas and famous sea shore temple. Drive to Pondicherry which was the former French colony. On arrival, check into hotel. After some relaxation, by evening, proceed to the well known Sri Manakula Vinayagar temple, Aurobindo ashram and later drive to worship world peace Mandir – Auroville. After visiting these must see places in Pondicherry, time to head back to the hotel for Overnight stay.

 

Day 04: Mamallapuram- Pondicherry: {By Surface 180 Km. / 4 Hr. }

Day 05: Pondicherry

Day 06: Pondicherry – Thanjavur: {By Surface 170 Km. / 3.5  Hr. }

_0032_Tanjore_(Thanjavur)_Brahadeeshwarar_Temple,_Tamil_Nadu,_IndiaMorning Drive  to Thanjavur and on arrival check-in your hotel. Visit Sri Brihadeswara Temple, the Thanjavur Palace, museum, Saraswathi Mahal Library later in the noon. Evening to explore this historic city of your own.

 

 

 

Day 07: Thanjavur – Madurai: {By Surface 190 Km. / 4 Hr.}

_0094_MaduraiMorning after breakfast drive  to Madurai – the 2500 years old ancient city situated on the banks of river Vaigai and on arrival check-in. After check-in proceed for the sight seeing of famous Meenakshi temple- a splendid example of Dravidian architecture, Tirumalai Nayak Mahal and Gandhi Museum.

 

 

Day 08: Madurai – Periyar: {By Surface 170 Km. / 3.5 Hr. }

You will mainly drive through the plantations of tea and cardamom to reach Periyar The PERIYAR WILD LIFE SANCTUARY at Thekkady is a preserved stretch of dense, evergreen rainforests that strudels the tiny state of Kerala on the south western tip of the Indian peninsula. This is a wildlife sanctuary around an artificial lake at Thekkady high in the Western Ghats. The mountains around the lake covered with dense deciduous forests and grass savannas makes this a picture-perfect destination. Tourists can make boat trips in the lake and watch the wild animals. Elephant, Gaur, Tiger, Panther, Sambar, Barking deer, Wild boar, Sloth bear, Nilgiri langur, Lion-tailed Macaque, Otter, Malabar Giant Squirrel, Wild dog etc are the major mammals here.

Day 09: Periyar:

Early morning enjoy a boating in Lake Periyar to spot wild animals.

Afternoon at leisure for shopping. Periyar is the best place to buy fresh home grown spices.

Day 10: Periyar – Kumarakom {By Surface 130 Km. / 3 Hr. }

_0099_KumarakomAfter the leisure filled breakfast drive straight to Kumarakom- a beautiful village on the banks of Vembanad Lake. The drive through the rolling mountains of the Western Ghats is an experience of its own. On arrival at Kumarakom check-in your hotel. Evening at your discretion to indulge in some of the countless pastimes of Kumarakom.

 

Day 11: Kumarakom:

The day is free to relax on the lush green lawns or recline on the coconut trees to watch the sky and water. Relax with the breathtaking view of the lake during dawn and dusk and get a glimpse or the formation of the birds flapping in and out of the bird sanctuary from any spot on the resort.

Day 12: Kumarakom – Alleppey {By Boat}

_0220_Alleppey (Houseboat) 3After morning breakfast check-in the houseboat. Take a houseboat trip through legendary backwaters of Kerala to Alappuzha that is better known as the “Venice of the East”. Stay in a traditional Kerala house opening right over the Vembanad Lake surrounded by banana plantations. Day free to relax with the option of a herbal oil massage. Also relish the wonderful Kerala cuisine in ethnic way. Overnight will be at houseboat.

 

Day 13: Alleppey – Kovalam {By Surface 160 Km. / 3 Hr. }

After the leisurely breakfast check out from the houseboat and drive  to Kovalam- the internationally renowned beach destination. On arrival check-in the beach resort. Rest of the day at leisure.


Day 14:Kovalam:

_0102_kovalamThe whole day at your discretion to enjoy the cool beach flanked with coconut groves on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other side.

 

 

 

Day 15: Kovalam- Kanyakumari- Kovalam {By Surface 90 Km. / 2 Hr. One Way}

_0108_Kanyakumari Vivekananda_RockIn the morning full day excursion trip to Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India. It is the place of confluence of the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. Visit the main attractions including the famous Vivekananda rock memorial. In the evening enjoy the sunset view later back to Kovalam.

 

 

Day 16: Kovalam – Thiruvananthapuram {Trivandrum} –Bangalore

Take a flight to Bangalore, rest and relax in hotel and based on your flight schedule, take a stroll in MG road. Departure transfer to airport
